Auguries of Innocence, William Blake
To see a world in a grain of sand,
And a heaven in a wild flower,
Hold infinity in the palm of your hand,
And eternity in an hour.
I can still remember the first time I heard this poem, when at six years old my dad helped me memorize the first few stanzas. They are to this day my favorite written words. As soon as I find it, I'll post an essay I once wrote on this poem :)
This (sometimes punchy) video provides a wonderful translation from the full poem written in Blake's 1803 English to modern day meaning.
